ABOUT HIM:
Vitas is the stage name of award winning singer-songwriter Vitaliy Vladasovich Grachov, who was born in Latvia from Russian parents, was raised in the city of Odessa (The Ukraine) but later moved to Russia as his music career progressed, where he is currently based.
His earliest musical involvement came when his grandfather taught him to play the accordion from which a young Vitas began to compose his own songs. As a teenager he was involved in a number of theatrical productions at art school in Odessa and was discovered by producer/manager, Sergey Pudovkin who took Vitas to Moscow, Russia in the late 1990’s on the basis of his acting skills. It was soon after that time that Vitus presented his demo tapes and music to Pudovkin and the focus shifted to a singing career.
In the year 2000, Vitas had a breakthrough into Russian music market with his track ‘Opera 2’. Since then he has built his career through many television appearances and broken into the Chinese market. He has consistently released an album every year over the last fifteen years (15 albums to date), and started to come to attention to other international markets when videos of his unique singing style and stage productions went viral on social media in 2015.
